I find without limits TV watching can definitely take over. My children have a daily limit - no more than 2 hours (which allows for a movie), as well as all of them (4) to each choose one 1/2 hour show. Choosing an hour long show requires negotiating with a sibling for them to pool their TV watching time. Often, especially if we are busy with school, activities, errands, etc the TV blessedly doesn't even get turned on. I love to see my kids use their creativity to build, play, explore. etc. with their hands, minds & bodies instead of numbing, endless TV viewing. We do have our favourite shows and its fun to sit down together to purposefully watch something. I think that is the difference.

Race, did you cut it out of the afternoon / evening too? No tv at all? Or just the morning . . . I just sent Lance a link to this article as the tv situation in our house is snowballing out of control. The first thing both kids say when they walk in the house or wake up is, "can we watch tv?" It's painful.
